4-Post & Case-Type Shelving
4-Post shelving from Spacesaver is made up of four upright posts that support universal shelves and is designed to adapt to both stationary and mobile storage applications. Individual shelving units can be equipped with lockable doors, storage and file drawers, bins and pull-out reference shelves, as well as a broad array of storage accessories, accommodating a wide array of media formats.
Case Study: Straticom Planning Associates
In this architectural and interior design firm, 4-post shelving was installed to house books, materials and samples in their design resource library.
The new shelving maximizes the vertical space in the library, adding both shelves and drawers where before only 42” high lateral filing cabinets stood. The center work island has storage drawers and shelves to house odd shaped interior finish samples like carpet and tile and doubles as a collaboration space for team members.
Cantilever Shelving is ideal for libraries of all kinds, as well as general office spaces, due to its reconfigurability and flexibility. There are various library media storage accessories like newspaper racks and pull-out media drawers available to maximize collection capacity. Cantilever shelving is also designed to adapt to both stationary and mobile storage applications.
Case Study: Anacostia Public Library
The library stacks at Anacostia Public Library were designed with a variety of media accessories, including magazine shelves and pullout drawers to house a variety of materials for their patrons. The Library also incorporated custom acrylic end panels onto the shelving, which allowed light to flow more freely throughout the space.
The layout of the library also incorporated shelving of different heights, again to maximize natural light in the library, an element that contributed to the building’s LEED Gold Certification.
